BLUES TO DO podcasts with Marlee Walker featuring The Blues To Do
calendar, interviews, live performances and more!

It’s the Blues To Do Podcast beginning with March 23rd, 2017.

Reason of The Week for the Blues: Mud Slides and global warming

This is Blues news and calendar for the greater Seattle and Northwest areas.

I’m Marlee Walker with

-The Great James Cotton has passed away and so has The Great Chuck Berry.

-The Columbia City Theatre in Seattle features women musicians and performers every Tuesday night in a promotion called ‘Crash The Glass’.

-The Triple Door has a new Wednesday Night Blues Jam with James Walls and friends, 8:30pm start in The Musicquarium Lounge.

-Ben Hunter & Joe Seamons have recorded some tracks with harmonica master, Phil Wiggins, inside the yet-to-open Black & Tan Dance Hall in Hillman City/Seattle, of which Ben is one of the three owners.  Ben & Joe just returned from touring with Wiggins in Paris, Amsterdam and various other spots.

-A celebration of life is planned for Buck Ormsby, on March 26th (sorry for previous mistake on date) at The Temple Theatre in Tacoma.  He was a longtime NW musical figure, on bass for the original Little Bill & The Blue Notes and, also The Wailers (Louie Louie etc.), he was on the board of Northwest Area Music Association and so much more.  This promises to be a star-studded event.

- Blues legend John Lee Hooker was one of the very first artists to break out of that genre and become a world-wide force, and will always be The King of Boogie. To begin the centennial celebration of Hooker's birth year, Vee-Jay Records, a division of Concord Bicycle Music, will release WHISKEY AND WIMMEN: JOHN LEE HOOKER'S FINEST on March 31. The multi-label compilation features songs from Hooker's Vee-Jay, Specialty, Riverside and Stax Records releases, and includes many of the bluesman's most iconic songs.
